Massive AKAI 3 Way Bookshelf Speakers SW-177
Ridiculously heavy 3 Way speakers from AKAI. Each features 2 x 1 3/4" Tweeters cooled by heat-dissipating metal baffles, 1 x 5.25" Mid range, and a massive 15" Woofer, with front adjustable high-range and mid-range.
These speakers were conservatively rated to handle 100 Watts at 8 Ohms impedance. They have attracted an almost fanatically loyal following over the years (search for reviews online and you'll see what I mean).
Original MSRP was a whopping $500 in 1978!! That's the equivalent of over $1700 in purchasing power in today's dollars.
These speakers appear to be in good condition. I've never actually used them so you can come and we'll plug them into an amp. Then you can ensure they're what you want. YOU will have to hook them up to your IPOD or maybe to one of my speaker components.. We can hook it up together and listen to the sound quality.
If you have the space for them, and are a fan of vintage audio (or are willing to become one) these are the speakers for you.

Dimensions -- 26"L X 17"W X 11"D
Color -- Brown wood grain on the outside.. Front is black.
Material -- wood
Condition -- . They look good. I don't see any defects or problems other than the front "screens" or grills are missing. One of the tweeter cones is a little pushed in. The corners of the speakers are not perfect either. There are some nicks and scrapes.
Warranty - No warranty. Final sale. No returns. Inspect before purchasing. Sold as is/ where is. Canadianlisted sales are like that.
Age - I don't know. Probably about 40 years old.
Used or new? -- These speakers have been used.

Pickup options - Bring a car or bring a truck. I can help you lift them in. Or just carry on the #9 or #4 bus (the stop is near my house). The Mckernan/Belgravia train station is close to my house too. Or just walk it away. One person can easily lift it.
